I’m in a pick ’em league, but it’s just straight up, so I thought I’d start to list my picks against the spread in my blog so I can see how well I do over the course of the season.  I’ll pick every game and also identify which games I feel are good bets, and track those as a separate category.  If you decide to use this to place actual bets, well, let’s see how well I do first.  I’ll take my lines from footballlocks.com.  Home team in bold.

  • NEW ORLEANS -6.5 over Chicago- Saints should win big, despite their mediocre defense.
  • DETROIT -8 over Kansas City- KC has a bunch of key injuries, playing on the road, they’re toast.
  • NY JETS -9 over Jacksonville- Despite shaky QB play, they should prevail big over Jax.
  • Oakland +3 over BUFFALO- The Raiders are the better team, and they’re getting points.  Despite the NFL trying to screw them with scheduling, they will prevail.
  • Arizona +3.5 over WASHINGTON- I’m not buying into the Rex Grossman era just yet.  I’m not sold on them winning outright, but this should be a squeaker either way.
  • Baltimore -6 over TENNESSEE- Chris Johnson isn’t ready to dominate yet, and Baltimore is a good team.  Though the Titans have the better QB.  Yes, I’m saying it- Flacco sucks.
  • Seattle +14 over PITTSBURGH- The Steelers should win easily, but 14 is a huge number of points to lay in any game.
  • Green Bay -10 over CAROLINA- I don’t see a repeat of Cam Newton’s first week, despite the Packers seemingly non-existent secondary.
  • Tampa Bay +3 over MINNESOTA- McNabb will pass for more than 50 yards this week, but not much.  All Day Adrian Petersen should do well, but Tampa is a better team.
  • Cleveland -2.5 over INDIANAPOLIS- Indy is a mess.  A MESS.
  • Dallas -3 over SAN FRANCISCO- Romo sucks, but Alex Smith is far worse.
  • MIAMI +3 over Houston- The Dolphins aren’t all that bad.  Chad Henne to Brandon Marshall will keep them in this game, and at home I think they win.
  • San Diego +7 over NEW ENGLAND- I think the Pats win the game, but not by 7.
  • Cincinnati +3.5 over DENVER- The Donkeys fans are clamoring for Tebow- have the wheels come off the John Fox era already?
  • Philadelphia -2.5 over ATLANTA- Vick will play better in Atlanta in this week than he ever did when he was a Falcon.
  • St. Louis +6 over NY GIANTS- The Rams are a scrappy team.  Assuming Bradford isn’t hurt more than they’re letting on, I think they win this game outright.
Bets worth making: New Orleans, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, and St. Louis.
