If you’re reading this, I probably know you personally, or you’re a stalker. Either way, welcome to my new website. Not that you care, but here are a few notes on the technical aspects of the site. It’s optimized for standards compliant web browsers, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, or IE9. It should even look good in IE8, but if you’re trying to use IE7 or earlier, you’re going to notice some layout issues. But that’s your own fault for using a 4 year old web browser. Run Windows Update, or go download a better browser. If I were to rank web browsers these days, I’d say it’s:
- Chrome
- IE9
- Safari
- Opera
- Firefox
Seriously, Firefox sucks- it’s sooooooo sloooooooow. I don’t know why it’s popular at all.
IE9 is a huge upgrade to the IE family of browsers. Fast rendering, much better layout of tools, it’s basically the Microsoft version of a browser using Chrome as inspiration. But, there are some funny things it’s doing on this page- for some reason on blog pages it likes my code enough to have the rollover on the links at the top work correctly, but the exact same code does NOT work on other pages. Hopefully when the beta period is over that’ll work. And if not, then I’ll just have to start playing with CSS. Whatever, I plan on changing how the links work anyway.
If you notice problems with the Twitter box in the sidebar, that’s because Twitter sucks. And their crappy JavaScript doesn’t seem to work at the moment. I hope they will fix it soon, since it was working earlier tonight. If you think that I’m writing all of this mainly so I can see how the page looks with a fair amount of content on it, you’re right. But by the time anyone sees this page, this will be so far below the fold no one will bother reading it anyway.
